Frequently Asked Questions

API CI-4 rated 15W-40 diesel oil is standard for Indian commercial vehicles including Tata, Ashok Leyland, Eicher, and Mahindra trucks. For high-temperature long-haul applications, 20W-50 may be recommended by the OEM.
API CI-4 is the rating for turbocharged diesel engines with EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). It provides better soot dispersal and thermal stability than older CH-4. Most BS6 commercial vehicles require at least CI-4 rated diesel oil.
Every 15,000–20,000 km for long-haul trucks (without oil analysis), or 25,000–40,000 km with an oil analysis programme. City-operation trucks should change every 10,000–15,000 km due to higher stop-start thermal cycling.
